Arsenal ‘willing’ to spend big to sign Atalanta star Hien
Arsenal are reportedly ready to splash the cash to sign Atalanta star Isak Hien, as per the Spanish outlet Fichajes.
After joining La Dea from Hellas Verona at the beginning of this year, the 25-year-old enjoyed a successful debut campaign at Gewiss Stadium last term, helping his side win the Europa League title.
The Swedish international has also showcased glimpses of his qualities in Serie A this term and it appears having been impressed by the defender’s recent impressive performances, Arsenal have registered their interest in signing him.
According to the report by Fichajes, Arsenal have been keeping a close eye on Hien’s performances and they could make a concrete approach to secure his signature in the upcoming winter window.
Arsenal are ‘willing to make’ an offer of around £42m[€50m] to sign the Atalanta star and if they manage to purchase him by splashing that much money then he will become ‘one of the most expensive’ centre-backs in the world.
Hien to Arsenal
The Swedish international, standing at 6ft 3in tall, is comfortable with the ball at his feet, good in the air and is also efficient in reading the game.
The defender could be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal if they purchase him. However, La Dea likes to play hardball to sell their biggest assets and they are likely to do the same with Hien as well so it would be difficult for Mikel Arteta’s side to lure him to the Emirates Stadium next year.
Arsenal already have William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes – who are Arteta’s first-choice centre-back partnership. The duo are deemed one of the best centre-back partnerships in the world at the moment.
Apart from them, Arsenal also have Riccardo Calafiori, Ben White and Jurrien Timber as the options to deploy at the heart of the back. Therefore, the North London club don’t need to invest more to add depth in this position.
So, they would be better off exploring options to strengthen other areas of the squad. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal eventually opt to make a concrete approach to purchase Hien next year.
