Arsenal could make ambitious move to sign Alexander Isak
Arsenal could reportedly make an ambitious move to sign Newcastle United star Alexander Isak, as per talkSPORT.
After joining the Magpies from Real Sociedad a few years ago, the 24-year-old has established himself as a key figure in Eddie Howe’s starting eleven in recent times.
He enjoyed a stellar campaign last term and after being impressed by his displays, the Gunners registered their interest in signing him this summer. However, they never formalised their interest and the player remained at St James’ Park.
Now, as per talkSPORT, Newcastle have been struggling to find an agreement with the striker regarding a new contract as the player wants a salary hike that will make him one of the highest earners of the club and is willing to include a release clause but the Tyneside club don’t want to match all of his demands.
So, this situation could help Arsenal to pull off an ambitious move to sign Isak. However, the player still has almost four years left in his current contract so Howe’s side are in no rush to sell him next year.
Isak to Arsenal
Benjamin Sesko is another option high on Arsenal’s wish-list and they could even decide to make a move for him in 2025 to bolster the frontline. He was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer before deciding to stay at RB Leipzig.
Caught Offside says Mikel Arteta feels Isak has a similar playing style to Thierry Henry, and the Swedish international could replicate the Frenchman’s performances at the club if he were to join.
The Newcastle star is a centre-forward by traits but is also comfortable playing in the left-wing position. He has had a slow start to this season but he is a top-class player and possesses high potential.
Following Eddie Nketiah’s departure and Gabriel Jesus’ poor form in recent times, the pressure is on Kai Havertz’s shoulder to score goals regularly and he has been doing that consistently this season.
But, it would be the right decision to sign a new striker and Isak would be a great coup if the North London club can eventually manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium next year.
