Out of favour Bayern Munich stars emerge as targets for Manchester United
Manchester United are reportedly keeping an eye on Bayern Munich trio Alphonso Davies, Leon Goretzka, and Leroy Sané to help elevate the team from their current performance crisis.
Erik Ten Hag’s future at Manchester United remains in the balance with the Premier League side sitting in 14th place in the League standings after seven games (winning 2, losing 3, and 2 draws). INEOS did a great job in the summer recruiting top-quality players to help the most successful team in English football recover from having their worst possible finish (8th position) in a Premier League season in the last campaign. The newcomers have failed to live the best of impressions under Erik Ten Hag.
While there is still much focus on the board’s decision to let Ten Hag go, the club is still catching up in scouting potential playmakers to improve their quality. Both Alphonso Davies and Leroy Sané are under contract with Bayern until 2025, though Real Madrid leads the race to sign Davies. Manchester United and Madrid previously battled for the signature of talented young French defender Leny Yoro during the summer. They would likely get involved to get the services of Davies for a fee in January or wait till his contract runs out with a deal at hand. When asked about his contract situation last month, Davies refuted his willingness to acknowledge any club and set his focus on winning games with the Balverians, who would likely tempt to offer him a new contract again to lure him to stay.
Sané’s future at Bayern is also uncertain under Vincent Kompany’s leadership. The 28-year-old is considering leaving the club, with Manchester United now closely watching his situation. The former Manchester City winger left England for a lucrative career in his home country and has been an exceptional force in the team for a long time. with the new change in management, recurring injuries, and the signing of Micheal Olise, the German’s position in the team is threatened, having played only 78 minutes of football in four games (with a goal).
Similarly, Goretzka’s future is in doubt. The 29-year-old midfielder has fallen out of favor in Vincent Kompany’s starting lineup but reportedly wants to fight for his place. Goretzka has only played one minute of Bundesliga football this season, with just 14 minutes across all competitions, and mainly remains an unused substitute.
Frenchman Kingsley Coman’s future at Bayern Munich also appears uncertain after seven successful years with the club. Despite his impressive stint with the club, the 28-year-old could be on his way out, with several Premier League clubs, including Manchester City and Arsenal, reportedly showing interest in signing him. Barcelona and Al-Ahli are also keeping close tabs on his situation.
Coman still has three years remaining on his contract with Bayern, making it difficult to achieve a low-price move. A loan deal could be more feasible, but it remains uncertain what lies ahead for the former Juventus player who has begun seeing more playtime with Vincent Kompany’s team.
BAYERN TO FACE FIERCE TRANSFER BATTLE FOR THEO HERNANDEZ
Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly set to compete for AC Milan’s left-back, Theo Hernandez. The three European giants actively seek a left-back, and Hernandez has emerged as a top target for the sides.
The 27-year-old has been an integral part of AC Milan over the years and for France on the international level. He is well known for his dynamic plus as a great defender and an even perfect winger up front. He has started seven games for the Rossoneri in the Seria A and Champions League and scored and assisted twice this season. It is unlikely that Milan would sell their talisman who is valued at over €60m in the transfer market.
This isn’t the first time Bayern Munich has been linked with Hernandez. Earlier in the summer, he was a potential replacement for Alphonso Davis whose future with the team remains uncertain. Bayern Munich is facing the reality of needing a high-quality replacement for the left-back role, with Davies likely to leave on a free transfer next summer.
AMOUNT BARCELONA OWES FOR LEDWANDOSKI REVEALED
Barcelona’s financial struggles have once again come to light in their latest accounts for club settlements for Player purchases. In the case of Polish captain Robert Lewandowski, the Catalans are still in debt to seven different clubs over the signing of Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich.
The 36-year old who is second to the Legendary Gerd Muller in goals for the club made the switch to Barcelona in the summer of 2022 after eight glittering years with the Balverians, signing for €45m and a possible €5m in add-ons with 12 months remaining in his contract. The goal machine has been an integral part of each club he played in and has replicated the success in Barcelona with 71 goals in a hundred and six appearances. This includes the hat trick in their last outing against Departivo Alaves. Following his success and pre-contract agreements, the Spanish giants now owe €10.4 million to Bayern Munich and smaller sums to several other clubs involved in the player’s career, including Legia Warsaw, Lech Poznan, Delta Varsovia, Znicz, MSK Varsovia, and Borussia Dortmund.
In addition to the Lewandowski deal, Barcelona owes €45 million in short-term debt and €102.6 million in long-term debt for other players. Notable amounts include €42 million to Leeds United for Raphinha, €24.5 million to Sevilla for Jules Koundé, and €26 million to Manchester City for Ferran Torres. The Club currently pays off its debts in installments and aims to manage its spending while competing at the highest level.
The significant earnings from sales for the Balverian have been outstanding. Lewandoski’s fee alone is enough to replenish compensation for the position while focusing on upgrading profiles for other strategic positions within the team.
