Arsenal pondering signing Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez

By on October 18, 2024

Arsenal are reportedly pondering signing AFC Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez, as per a recent report.

After becoming the Gunners’ boss back in 2019, Mikel Arteta has managed to make the North London club a Premier League title challenger over the last few years.

However, despite coming close to becoming the English champions in the last two seasons, Arsenal eventually failed to go all the way. Manchester City won the league on both occasions and they have won the title in six out of the last seven occasions.

Arteta made it clear ahead of this season that he doesn’t want to think about anything but winning the league this season. So, he opted to reinforce the squad in the summer by signing Mikel Merino and Riccardo Calafiori. Moreover, Raheem Sterling and Neto joined on loan deals late in the window.

Now, as per a recent report (via Fichajes), Arsenal are looking to reinforce the left-back position next year and they have registered their interest in signing Kerkez having been impressed by his recent displays.

Kerkez to Arsenal

Kerkez has attracted the attention of a few big English clubs following his recent emergence with Manchester United among those registered their interest in signing him this summer. But, they eventually opted not to make a concrete approach for him so a deal didn’t come to fruition.

Having recently signed the defender, the Cherries have no intention of letting their star man leave for cheap and it was previously reported that they slapped a £42m price tag on his head.

Kerkez is quick, strong, efficient going forward, can deliver excellent crosses from the wide areas, is efficient in defensive contributions and can also press the opposition high up the field.

The 20-year-old is a talented player and possesses high potential. However, Arteta likes to deploy technically sound players in defence to play out from the back easily.

However, Kerkez isn’t the best option in this regard so Arsenal would be better off exploring other options to strengthen the left-back position. It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to secure his signature next year.
