Arsenal eye swoop to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo
Arsenal are reportedly considering making a move to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, as per Football Insider.
Mikel Arteta holds a long-term desire to purchase a new right-winger to support Bukayo Saka. The Gunners have been linked with numerous names over the last few years with Ferran Torres and Raphinha being among them.
The North London club eventually decided to sign Raheem Sterling from Chelsea late in the summer window to add depth to the attack. But, he has joined the club on a loan deal and is expected to return to the Blues next year.
Now, Football Insider states that Arsenal have decided to step up their efforts to strengthen the right-wing following Bukayo Saka’s recent injury.
The Gunners have registered their interest in signing Mbeumo after being impressed by his displays early on this season and are planning to make a potential swoop in January.
Mbeumo to Arsenal
Brentford wanted around £40m for the Cameroonian ahead of this season and it remains to be seen how much they ask for him next year as his current contract will expire in 2026.
The African is a left-footed right-winger but is also comfortable in the second striker role and the centre-forward position. He has scored six goals in eight appearances in the Premier League thus far this season.
Mbeumo has now become the talismanic figure for Thomas Frank’s side following Ivan Toney’s departure to Saudi Arabia in the last transfer window.
So, Mbeumo, valued at around £33m by Transfermarkt, is a Premier League proven player and would be an excellent acquisition for the North London club if they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arteta’s side eventually step up their efforts to hire him in 2025 to strengthen the attack.
Meanwhile, following a disappointing 2-0 defeat against AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League, Arsenal will have to shift their focus to the Champions League as they take on Shakhtar Donetsk at the Emirates Stadium tonight.
The defeat versus the Cherries was their first of this season and they will be hoping to bounce back immediately in tonight’s encounter.
