Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign Real Madrid star Rodrygo, as per the Spanish outlet Fichajes.

Having moved to the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu from Santos back in 2018, the 23-year-old has enjoyed great success at the Spanish capital over the years, winning two Champions League trophies, multiple league titles and several other major cup competitions.

However, despite establishing himself as a key player for Los Blancos, speculation surrounding the Brazilian’s future continues to emerge following the arrival of Kylian Mbappe.

Now, Fichajes states that Rodrygo is increasingly likely to leave Real Madrid and the Premier League is expected to be his next destination with Arsenal ‘at the forefront’ to secure his signature.

Real Madrid are ready to cash-in on the South American if a convincing proposal is tabled by his potential suitors such as Arsenal and it was reported in the summer that the record European Champions wanted around £134m for him.

Rodrygo to Arsenal

Rodrygo has a contract until 2028 with Real Madrid at the moment so they are in a strong position to demand a big fee for him in 2025.

The report says Real Madrid’s price tag isn’t the only stumbling block for the North London club to get this deal done as Liverpool are also keen on signing him.

Rodrygo is a versatile player as he can play anywhere across the frontline. But, he prefers to play in the left flank, although he doesn’t get much opportunity to play in this area at Real Madrid due to the presence of Vinicius Jr.

The Brazilian is a top-class player and possesses high potential so he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to sign him by splashing a large sum next year.

Meanwhile, following a disappointing 2-0 loss against AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League, Arsenal bounced back immediately after defeating Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League in midweek.

Now, Mikel Arteta’s side will face off against title rival Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League this weekend. The Gunners will be desperate to come away with all three points from this encounter to close the gap with the Merseyside club at the top of the table.
