Arsenal to step up efforts to sign Dusan Vlahovic in January
Arsenal are reportedly planning to accelerate their efforts to sign Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic in January, as per Caught Offside.
The Gunners hold a long-term interest in the Serbian as they were said to be keen on purchasing him a few years ago after being impressed by his displays for Fiorentina.
But, the player eventually rejected a move to the Emirates Stadium in favour of joining the Old Lady of Turin. So, after failing to hire Vlahovic, Arsenal opted to sign Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.
Now, Mikel Arteta has Kai Havertz and Jesus as the centre-forward options. But, the Brazilian has been struggling to showcase his best in recent times so the pressure is on the German to play almost every game and help the club achieve their lofty ambitions.
Caught Offside states that Arsenal are interested in signing a new centre-forward and their initial plan was to wait until next summer to purchase Benjamin Sesko.
Vlahovic to Arsenal
But, they could now step up their efforts to sign Vlahovic in January as they have received an opportunity to hire him. Juventus are keen on keeping hold of the Serbian – whose current contract will expire in 2026 – by tying him down to a new long-term contract but they have found it difficult to make progress over a fresh term.
Therefore, Arsenal are currently on red alert and they would be able to lure him to the Emirates Stadium if they splash a fee of around £50m in the winter window.
Vlahovic has enjoyed a promising start to this season, scoring seven goals and registering one assist in 10 appearances in all competitions thus far.
The 24-year-old is a talented player and possesses high potential so he could be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal if they purchase him. He is quick, strong, good in the air, efficient in taking free-kicks, can link-up the play and also works hard without possession.
Therefore, the Serbian international possesses the necessary attributes to flourish in the Premier League. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually decide to make a concrete approach to sign him in January to strengthen the attack.
