Arsenal predicted line-up against Liverpool
Arsenal will host title rival Liverpool in a crucial Premier League encounter at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Gunners were defeated by AFC Bournemouth in their last league assignment but they will be coming into this game off the back of a 1-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League in midweek.
The North London club are currently third in the league with 17 points from eight games and Liverpool are the league leader with 21 points from the same number of matches.
Therefore, Mikel Arteta’s side can’t afford to think of anything but a victory from this encounter to close the gap with the Merseyside club and maintain the title march.
Team news
Riccardo Calafiori sustained a knee injury in midweek so he is in major doubt for this game, while Bukayo Saka hasn’t featured after picking up an injury during the international break. So, there is a big question mark about his availability this weekend.
Moreover, Jurrien Timber has also been struggling with his problem and is likely to remain sidelined as a result of that. Additionally, Takehiro Tomiyasu isn’t in contention to feature owing to his fitness problems.
The biggest blow for the North London club is that William Saliba is suspended for this fixture after picking up a red card last weekend against Bournemouth.
Predicted line-up
David Raya should continue between the sticks with Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes likely to be paired up in the centre-back position for Arsenal amid Saliba’s absence.
In that case, Thomas Partey could start in the right-back position, while Jakub Kiwior might commence on the opposite side ahead of Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Declan Rice should start alongside Mikel Merino in the engine room, pushing Leandro Trossard into the attacking midfield position. So, Jorginho and Ethan Nwaneri would have to settle for a place on the bench.
Gabriel Martinelli is expected to start in the left flank and Gabriel Jesus might be on the opposite side if Saka can’t recover in time, while Kai Havertz would be leading the line for the North London club. So, Raheem Sterling is likely to be among the substitutes.
Expected Arsenal line-up vs Liverpool
Raya; Partey, White, Gabriel, Kiwior; Rice, Merino, Trossard; Martinelli, Havertz, Jesus
