Arsenal predicted line-up against Newcastle United
Arsenal will travel to St James’ Park to face off against Newcastle United in a crucial Premier League encounter today at lunchtime.
After dropping five points from the last two league fixtures, the Gunners are currently third in the table with 18 points from nine games, sitting five points behind the league leaders Manchester City.
On the other hand, Newcastle started the new campaign brilliantly but having accumulated only two points from the last five games, they have now dropped down to 12th position.
However, the Magpies are a formidable side at home and the North London club lost this game in a controversial manner last season. Even Man City only managed to come away with one point from this game earlier this term.
Team news
Gabriel Magalhaes’ availability for this game was a point of concern for the Gunners after picking up a knee injury last weekend against Liverpool. But, Mikel Arteta has provided positive news and says that he could start today.
But, Martin Odegaard, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Riccardo Calafiori are set to miss out on this game owing to their respective injury problems. Moreover, the Spanish boss has said that Ben White is a major doubt for this game.
Predicted line-up
David Raya is set to be between the sticks for Arsenal and in front of him, William Saliba and Gabriel could be the centre-back pairing. White might commence in the right-back position and Jurrien Timber is likely to be on the opposite side. However, if White can’t feature then Thomas Partey should replace him.
If the Ghanaian starts in defence then Declan Rice is expected to be in the holding midfield role alongside Mikel Merino, pushing Leandro Trossard in the attacking midfield position.
Gabriel Martinelli would be in the left flank, while Bukayo Saka is set to be on the opposite side for the North London club following a midweek breather.
So, Kai Havertz is likely to be in the centre-forward position. In that case, Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling will have to settle for a place on the bench in this game.
Expected Arsenal line-up vs Newcastle
Raya; Partey, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber; Rice, Merino, Trossard; Martinelli, Havertz, Saka
