Arsenal eye move to sign Eintracht Frankfurt star Larsson

By on November 5, 2024

Arsenal have reportedly expressed their interest in signing Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Larsson, as per Sky Germany journalist Kerry Hau.

The Gunners decided to strengthen the engine room by purchasing Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad in the last transfer window. However, Mikel Arteta might have to delve into the market once again next year to sign new midfielders as Thomas Partey and Jorginho’s futures are currently uncertain at the Emirates Stadium.

The duo have entered the final year of their respective contracts and as a result, the North London club are currently at risk of losing them for free at the end of this season.

Now, speaking on Sky Sports Germany, Hau has claimed that Arsenal have registered their interest in signing Larsson having been impressed by his displays in the German top-flight in recent times.

However, the journalist says that Arsenal aren’t the only club in this race as Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are also keen on purchasing him. Moreover, two Bundesliga clubs are also interested in securing his service.

Larsson to Arsenal

Hau further adds that the 20-year-old has a contract until 2029 with Frankfurt and is happy at the German side. Therefore, they are currently in no hurry to sell him and he doesn’t have a release clause in his current contract either.

So, Mikel Arteta’s side will have to offer a lucrative proposal to sign the youngster in 2025 and he is valued at around £23m by Transfermarkt.

Hau said:

“The 20-year-old[Larsson] Swede has already aroused the interest of several top clubs. According to our information, the Premier League is currently looking at him. Some top-class teams, right behind Liverpool FC, Arsenal FC and also Tottenham Hotspur, we hear, have Larsson in their sights, but also one or two Bundesliga competitors.”

The Scandinavian can be deployed in the deep-lying playmaker position but is also comfortable in the box-to-box role. He is a highly talented player and possesses the potential to become a top-class midfielder in future.

Therefore, he would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future if they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his signature in 2025.
