Arsenal ‘interested’ in signing Bayern Munich star Sane
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane, as per German football expert Florian Plettenberg.
After moving to Allianz Arena from Manchester City back in 2020, the 28-year-old has enjoyed great success at the Bavarian club over the years. However, following Michael Olise’s arrival from Crystal Palace in the summer, the German has lost his place in Vincent Kompany’s starting eleven this season.
Moreover, with his current contract set to expire at the end of this season, speculation surrounding his future continues to grow ahead of the upcoming winter window.
If the forward doesn’t extend his deal with the record Bundesliga champions before January then he will be able to agree on a pre-contract deal with foreign clubs in the winter window.
Now, writing on X, Plettenberg states that Arsenal are interested in Sane and have been monitoring the forward’s situation closely. They are ready to pounce if he eventually doesn’t sign an extension with Bayern Munich and leaves the club as a free agent.

However, the journalist says that Manchester United are also plotting a swoop for him therefore, it won’t be straightforward for the North London club to get the deal done.
Plettenberg wrote:
“Arsenal continue to closely monitor Leroy Sané’s situation and remain among the interested clubs should a contract extension with FC Bayern beyond 2025 not work out. Manchester United, also there!”
The German international likes to play on the right flank but is also efficient on the opposite side. He is an experienced player and has showcased his qualities at the highest level over the years.
Moreover, Sane – valued at around £50m by Transfermarkt – is a Premier League proven star so signing a player of his qualities for free would be a wise acquisition for Arsenal if they purchase him.
However, the player currently earns around £320,000-a-week in salary at Bayern and may demand a wage hike to join the Gunners. Therefore, that could be a big stumbling block for Arsenal to get the deal done.
It is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club make a concrete approach to sign Sane if he eventually leaves the Allianz Arena at the end of this season.
