Arsenal keen on signing Newcastle star Alexander Isak
Arsenal are keen on signing Newcastle United star Alexander Isak, as per transfer insider Mike Brown.
After joining the Magpies from Real Sociedad back in 2022, the Swedish international displayed glimpses of his qualities in his debut campaign in the Premier League before enjoying a stellar season last term. In 30 league appearances, he netted 21 goals and registered two assists.
Isak has had a slow start to this season but has scored four goals in all competitions and all of those goals came against top six teams. Moreover, he netted the winner against the Gunners in the Premier League last weekend.
Arsenal were reportedly interested in signing a new striker in the summer window and was linked with a host of options with Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko being among them. Moreover, Isak was said to be on their radar as well.
However, Mikel Arteta’s side eventually opted not to sign any striker before the deadline. Now, speaking on Football Insider, former Manchester United scout, Brown, says that Arsenal remain keen on signing Isak.
Isak to Arsenal
As per the transfer insider, Isak is ‘one of the best’ strikers in the world so he would be a great asset for any top team. The forward is likely to leave the Tyneside club at the end of this season and if that were to happen, Arsenal are ready to make a swoop to sign him to bolster the attack.
Brown said:
“Yes, I’ve heard Arsenal are still looking at him[Isak]. I think he’s as good as anybody, he’s one of the best in the world for me, and he’d be an asset to pretty much any team.”
The 25-year-old is valued at around £62m by Transfermarkt and still has three and a half years left in his current contract. Therefore, the Magpies are expected to demand a big fee to let their star man leave next year.
Isak is a versatile player as he is comfortable playing in the centre-forward position as well as the left-wing role. He is a Premier League proven star so he is expected to take less time to settle down if he eventually joins the Gunners at the end of this season.
