Arsenal showing ‘strong interest’ in signing Hugo Larsson
Arsenal are reportedly showing a strong interest in signing Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Larsson, as per Caught Offside.
Upon moving to Deutsche Bank Park last year, the 20-year-old enjoyed a promising debut campaign in the Bundesliga last term, helping his side qualify for the Europa League.
Now, the Swedish international has continued to showcase his qualities for the Eagles this term as well, scoring twice in eight league starts. Dino Toppmoller’s side are currently third in the table.
So, it seems the youngster’s eye-catching performances in the German top-flight haven’t gone unnoticed as he has started attracting the attention of several big European clubs with Arsenal among those to have registered their interest.
Caught Offside states that the Gunners are planning to step up their efforts to sign Larsson in January and are ready to submit a formal proposal worth around £33m.
Larsson to Arsenal
However, Frankfurt want at least £58m to let their star man leave the club and the North London club’s potential bid will fall way short of that number if they eventually table it.
The report says that Arsenal aren’t the only club looking to hire Larsson as Liverpool and Tottenham are also in this race. They are even ready to open talks over a deal to sign him in January.
Moreover, Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are also keeping a close eye on his development. Therefore, the Emirates Club will have to beat tough competition to get the deal done.
Larsson has a contract until 2029 with Toppmoller’s side so they are in no rush to sell the midfielder next year. He is a versatile player as he can play multiple positions across the middle of the park.
The Frankfurt star is a talented player and possesses the potential to become a top-class midfielder in future. So, he would be a shrewd signing for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future if they purchase him.
However, should the North London club eventually secure his service then they will have to keep patience with him as he is still a very young player and needs time to reach his full potential.
