Arsenal ‘determined’ to sign West Ham United star Kudus
Arsenal are reportedly ‘determined’ to sign West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.
After taking over the Gunners’ managerial role at a difficult stage back in 2019, Mikel Arteta has managed to rebuild the club to challenge for the Premier League title consistently.
However, the North London club have been finding it difficult to take the final step. They mounted the title charge in the last two campaigns but eventually lost the race to Manchester City on both occasions.
Ahead of this season, Arteta said that he is desperate to finally win the Premier League this term but the Gunners have already lost ground in the title race as they are currently fourth in the league, sitting nine points behind the table topper Liverpool.
So, it seems Arteta feels he needs more reinforcements next year to help Arsenal take the next step in this rebuild and Fichajes states that Arsenal are ‘determined’ to strengthen the attack by signing Kudus.
Kudus to Man Utd
However, the report says West Ham are reluctant to sell the Ghanaian international so Arsenal will have to offer a lucrative proposal to persuade the Hammers to sell and Julen Lopetegui’s side may accept around £100m.
Kudus likes to be deployed on the flanks but can also provide cover in the centre-forward and the attacking midfield position if needed. He is technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, has the ability to create opportunities for fellow attackers and is also efficient in taking set-pieces.
The African has already showcased glimpses of his qualities in the Premier League after moving to the London Stadium from Ajax Amsterdam last year.
Therefore, Kudus would definitely be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to sign the West Ham star.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have entered the international break after accumulating only two points from the last four Premier League fixtures. Now, they’ll take on Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium after the hiatus.
