Arsenal eye move to sign Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush
Arsenal are reportedly considering signing Eintracht Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush, as per transfer journalist Ekrem Konur.
It was widely reported in the last transfer window that the Gunners were keen on strengthening the attacking department by signing a new prolific centre-forward.
A plethora of names were linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium with Benjamin Sesko, Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres being among them. However, Mikel Arteta’s side eventually opted not to sign a new striker before the deadline.
Instead, they sold Eddie Nketiah to Crystal Palace late in the window. So, the North London club have started the new campaign with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus as the centre-forward options.
But, the Brazilian has been struggling to showcase his best in recent times. On the other hand, Havertz enjoyed a promising start to this season but hasn’t been able to score or assist in his last six games in the Premier League and Champions League.
Marmoush to Arsenal
As a result, Arsenal have been struggling to win games in recent weeks and have won only one out of those six fixtures. So, the Gunners have found themselves nine points behind the league leaders Liverpool in the Premier League.
Now, writing on X, Konur states that Arsenal are interested in signing a new striker with Marmoush on their wish-list. Frankfurt would be open to cashing-in on him for a fee of around £50m and the Emirates club are ready to offer a lucrative contract offer to him to beat other clubs in this race with Liverpool and Barcelona also showing interest in hiring him.
He wrote:
“Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush is a transfer target for FC Barcelona, who see him as a potential successor to Robert Lewandowski. Barcelona see the Egyptian player as a viable €60 million option. However, Barcelona face competition from English clubs such as Arsenal and Liverpool, especially in terms of wage offers.”
Marmoush has burst onto the scene after enjoying a stellar start to this season, scoring 14 goals and registering 10 assists in all competitions thus far. He is a centre-forward by traits but is also comfortable playing out wide.
Arteta likes to have versatile players at his disposal so Marmoush would be an excellent option to play in his system. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to lure him to the Emirates Stadium next year.
