Arsenal ‘very keen’ on signing Frankfurt star Hugo Larsson
Arsenal are reportedly ‘very keen’ on signing Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Larsson, as per TEAMtalk.
The Gunners have started this season with the ambition of finally winning the Premier League title having narrowly missed out on achieving that in the last two campaigns. They even enjoyed a promising start to the campaign, accumulating 17 points from the first seven games.
But, after failing to win the last four consecutive league encounters, they are currently fourth in the table, sitting nine points behind the league leaders Liverpool. Therefore, the Emirates club have already found themselves on the back foot in this title race.
Now, TEAMtalk states that Arsenal are ‘very keen’ on strengthening the squad in January to help Arteta finally win the league at the end of this season and are looking for a new midfielder.
Larsson is on their wish-list and Arsenal have already made contact with the player’s representatives over a potential swoop. The 20-year-old shares the same agent with his Swedish compatriot Viktor Gyokeres and Mikel Arteta’s side have also discussed with the agent about the possibility of signing the striker.
Larsson to Arsenal
The Frankfurt star is valued at around £23m by Transfermarkt and his existing deal will expire in 2029 with the Eagles. Therefore, they are in no rush to let him leave the club in January.
The report says that Arsenal aren’t the only club interested in the youngster as Liverpool and AC Milan are also considering making a move for him in the upcoming window.
Larsson is comfortable playing multiple positions across the middle of the park. He is technically sound, can play threading passes between the lines, is good in the air and is also efficient in defensive contributions.
With Thomas Partey and Jorginho looking likely to leave the club upon the expiration of their respective contracts at the end of this season, signing a new midfielder would be the right decision in the winter.
Larsson is a talented player and possesses high potential so he could be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal if they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to sign him to strengthen the midfield.
