Arsenal prepared to break the bank to sign Raphinha
Arsenal are reportedly prepared to spend big to sign Barcelona star Raphinha, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.
The Gunners hold a long-term interest in the Brazilian as they attempted to sign him a few years ago but the player eventually opted to join the Blaugrana from Leeds United.
Upon moving to Camp Nou, the South American endured a difficult start to his life at the Catalan giants but he has enjoyed a stellar start under new manager, Hansi Flick, this season.
In 17 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona, Raphinha has scored 12 goals and registered 10 assists. He has also been excellent for the Brazil national team, making five goal contributions in seven games this season.
So, it seems having been impressed by the forward’s recent performances, the North London club have revived their interest in signing him.
Raphinha to Arsenal
Fichajes states that Arsenal want to strengthen the attack with a dynamic and creative player and believe Raphinha would be the perfect option. So, they are prepared to spend a fee of around £75m to lure him to the Emirates Stadium.
Flick has no intention of letting one of his star players leave the club but Barcelona could be open to cashing-in on him if they receive an offer of around £75m as it would be difficult for them to reject this much money amid a difficult financial situation.
Raphinha is a versatile player as he is comfortable on both flanks and is also efficient in the attacking midfield position. He also has leadership qualities and has led the Blaugrana in numerous games this season.
Mikel Arteta has been exploring options to sign a new right-winger to support Bukayo Saka over the years. Although Arsenal have Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling to deploy on the RW position, the former has found it difficult to showcase his best in recent times, the Englishman has been struggling to find regular game-time after joining the club on a loan deal from Chelsea last summer.
Raphinha is a top-class forward and is a Premier League proven player so he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him. However, it remains to be seen whether the Emirates club will eventually hire him to bolster the frontline.
