Arsenal have reportedly opened talks over a deal to sign Real Madrid star Arda Guler, as per Spanish outlet Sport.

Martin Odegaard was deemed one of the most talented young players in the world when he joined Los Blancos as a 16-year-old boy. However, he found it difficult to break into the Spanish giants’ starting eleven so he went out on loan on several occasions to play regularly and develop his career.

Following his eye-catching performances for Real Sociedad, Real Madrid opted to keep him at the club but he still struggled to find regular game-time at the Spanish capital.

At that moment, Arsenal opted to take a punt and sign him on a loan deal back in January 2021. Upon moving to the Emirates Stadium, the Norwegian displayed promising performances in the Premier League.

So, the Gunners eventually decided to sign him permanently in the following summer and he has turned out to be an excellent acquisition. Now, Sport states that Arsenal are planning to emulate the same with Guler in the upcoming January window.

Guler to Arsenal

The 19-year-old is deemed one of the most talented young players in Europe but he has been struggling to break into Carlo Ancelotti’s star-studded starting eleven.

So, the player isn’t happy with his situation at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. Arsenal are looking to take advantage of that and have already held talks with the player’s representatives and Real Madrid over a deal to sign him. Arteta is even prepared to hire him in a loan deal in January.

The youngster is valued at around £37m by Transfermarkt and still has more than four and a half years left in his current contract. Therefore, Real Madrid are likely to demand a large sum to sell him permanently next year.

The Turkish international is a versatile player and can play anywhere across the attacking midfield position, moreover, he is comfortable in the box-to-box role.

Arsenal lack depth in their CAM department as other than Odegaard, they don’t have any other specialist option to deploy in this area. So, adding more firepower in this area would be the right decision and Guler would be a great acquisition if they can manage to secure his service.
