Arsenal eye move to sign Brentford ace Bryan Mbeumo
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, as per Football Insider.
The Cameroonian has been a key figure in Thomas Frank’s starting eleven in recent years and following Ivan Toney’s departure, he has now been the Bees’ talismanic figure.
The 25-year-old has been displaying productive performances this campaign, scoring eight goals and registering a solitary assist in 14 Premier League appearances. But, the forward hasn’t been able to put his name on the scoresheet in the last six games in all competitions.
Now, Football Insider state that Arsenal are keen on signing Mbeumo and they have been keeping a close eye on his displays this season before making a potential swoop next year.
The player is valued at around £33m by Transfermarkt and will enter the final year of his current contract next summer. Therefore, if he doesn’t extend his deal with the Bees over the coming months then they might be open to cashing-in on him at the end of this season to avoid losing him for free in 2026.
Mbeumo to Arsenal
However, on FI, transfer insider, Mike Brown, says that Newcastle United are also plotting a swoop for him so it won’t be straightforward for the Gunners to get the deal done.
Bukayo Saka is the only right-winger Mikel Arteta currently has at his disposal. Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus can play this role but neither have managed to showcase their best this season with the Englishman expected to return to Chelsea upon expiration of his loan move next summer.
Purchasing a new right-winger to support Bukayo Saka has been a long-term desire of Arteta but he hasn’t been able to sign any long-term option yet.
Mbeumo has proven his worth in the Premier League and could be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal if they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club can eventually manage to secure his service to reinforce the attacking department.
Meanwhile, after winning three consecutive games in the Premier League, Arsenal are currently third in the table with 28 points from 14 games. So, they will be hoping to continue their winning run when they travel to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham this weekend.
