Raphinha

Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Barcelona forward Raphinha in January, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.

The 27-year-old has been in stellar form thus far this season, scoring 17 goals and registering eight assists in 24 appearances in La Liga and the Champions League. Moreover, he has made five goal contributions in eight matches for Brazil this term.

So, it is not a surprise to see that the Gunners have registered their interest in signing him to strengthen the attack and Mikel Arteta’s side hold a long-term interest in him.

They attempted to purchase him from Leeds United a few years ago but the Blaugrana eventually won the race. Following that, they continued to be linked with him in the last few transfer windows and have once again been mentioned as the South American’s potential suitors ahead of the upcoming January window.

Fichajes state that Arsenal are seeking to strengthen the attack with a player of proven experience and quality so they want Raphinha. Although the 28-year-old still has a contract until 2027 with Barcelona, they are ready to cash-in on him in January to make room in the wage bill to register Dani Olmo permanently.

However, the report say that purchasing the Brazilian won’t be straightforward for the North London club as Liverpool and Manchester City have also expressed their interest in hiring him.

Raphinha is a versatile forward as he is comfortable playing in the right flank but is also comfortable in the left and the attacking midfield position.

He is a dynamic and hardworking player and has already proven his qualities at the highest level. Moreover, he is currently in the prime stage of his career, therefore, Raphinha – valued at around £50m by Transfermarkt – would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal if they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to lure the South American to the Emirates Stadium in the upcoming winter window.

Meanwhile, after the disappointing draw against Everton on Saturday, Arsenal will face off against Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup in midweek.
