Arsenal are reportedly still keen on signing RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, as per the Daily Mail.

Having moved to the German side from their sister club Red Bull Salzburg last year, the Slovenian enjoyed a promising debut campaign in the Bundesliga last campaign.

Following that, the Gunners seemingly registered their interest in signing him as he was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium last summer. But, the player eventually decided to remain at Leipzig by extending his deal.

Now, the forward has been displaying inconsistent performances thus far this season but has already scored 15 goals for club and country.

The Daily Mail say that Arsenal were indeed interested in Sesko last summer and even held talks to get the deal done. But, Mikel Arteta didn’t assure him of the first-team role due to the presence of Kai Havertz – who enjoyed a brilliant end to last term.

Sesko to Arsenal

The forward wasn’t keen on playing as a second fiddle at the Emirates Stadium so he eventually opted to remain at Red Bull Arena. But, following Havertz’s slow start to this season, the Gunners now believe that they need a prolific goal-scorer to challenge for the Premier League title.

Arsenal still hold a ‘concrete interest’ in Sesko and they have a very good relationship with the player’s agent. The North London club already did a lot of groundwork to sign him last summer so Arsenal are in a ‘strong position’ to secure his service next year.

The report claim that apart from Sesko, Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres are also on Arsenal’s radar but Sesko is higher on their wish-list.

The forward is valued at around £41m by Transfermarkt and still has a contract until 2029 with Leipzig. So, they are in a strong position to demand a big fee to let their star man leave.

Sesko, standing at 6ft 5in tall, is quick, strong, good in the air, has an eye for scoring goals from distance and is efficient in finishing off his chances.

The forward is a highly talented player and possesses the potential to become a top-class striker in future. So, he would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal if they purchase him.
