Arsenal are reportedly planning to revive their interest in signing RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko, as per transfer journalist Ben Jacobs.

It was reported in the last transfer window that the Gunners were keen on strengthening the frontline by signing a new prolific goal-scorer. A plethora of names were linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium with Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen being among them.

But, the Leipzig star was said to be their primary target and they even laid groundwork to hire him. However, the player eventually decided to stay at the German side by extending his deal.

Now, Speaking on GiveMeSport, Jacobs states that although Sesko decided to stay at Leipzig, Arsenal feel the striker is interested in leaving to take the next step in his career and they are the striker’s preferred destination.

Arsenal believe they were leading the race to sign him last summer so they are ready to revive their interest in signing him.

Sesko to Arsenal

Jacobs said:

“You’ve still got Benjamin Sesko, who Arsenal feel, when he chooses to finally leave Leipzig, has Arsenal in mind, and there were kind of two parts to last summer.

“One was, was Sesko going to renew? And he did. And two was, where was his preference if he didn’t renew? And Arsenal feel like they were front of queue for Sesko in the player’s mind, if he’d chosen not to extend at Leipzig. So, still very much on Arsenal’s radar.”

The forward has a contract until 2029 at Leipzig and is valued at around £41m by Transfermarkt. So, the Bundesliga side are expected to demand a large sum to sell one of their biggest assets.

Sesko has been in excellent form thus far this season, making 14 goal contributions in all competitions. He even netted against Bayern Munich just before the winter break.

The forward is one of the most talented young strikers in the world so he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to hire him to bolster the attacking department.
