Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler, as per the Daily Mail.

Having joined Los Blancos from Fenerbahce last year, the youngster initially struggled with injury problems. After returning to full fitness, he showcased glimpses of his qualities in La Liga during the business end of last campaign.

Following Kylian Mbappe’s arrival last summer, Guler has found it difficult to get regular game-time this season, starting only seven games in all competitions.

Therefore, speculation surrounding his future has continued to emerge over the last few weeks. Now, the Daily Mail report that Arsenal admire Guler and could make a move to secure his service this year.

The youngster is valued at around £37m by Transfermarkt and still has more than four and a half years left in his current contract. Therefore, Arsenal will have to offer a lucrative proposal to persuade the Spanish giants to cash-in.

However, the report say Real Madrid believe the Turkish international has the qualities to become a key player for them in the future so they don’t want to let him leave the club.

Although Guler has been a rotational player for Real Madrid, he has established himself as a key figure for the Turkiye national team at this tender age.

The 19-year-old is a specialist attacking midfielder but can also play in the box-to-box role and on the left flank. He is technically sound, can play threading passes between the lines, has an eye for long-range passing, can score from distance and also can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas.

Martin Odegaard is the only attacking midfield option Mikel Arteta currently has at his disposal. Leandro Trossard can provide cover in this area but is more comfortable out wide. Amid the Norwegian’s absence, the Gunners struggled this season so purchasing a new midfielder would be the right decision.

Guler is currently one of the best young talents in the world, therefore he would be a great coup for the Gunners if they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club eventually manage to lure him away from the Santiago Bernabéu in January or next summer.
