Arsenal eye move to sign Juventus star Andrea Cambiaso

By on January 17, 2025

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Juventus star Andrea Cambiaso, as per Caught Offside.

The Gunners have had a topsy-turvy first half of this season, still, they are in the title race, sitting second in the Premier League table with 43 points from 21 games.

Liverpool are at the summit of the table with four points more having played a game less. Therefore, the North London club are within touching distance of Arne Slot’s side.

Injury problems have been one of the main reasons behind Arsenal’s inconsistency this season with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus out injured at the moment. The Brazilian’s season is over following a serious knee issue.

In defence, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White have been struggling with their respective problems over the last few weeks, while Riccardo Calafiori has found it difficult to remain fit this season after joining from Bologna last summer.

Cambiaso to Arsenal

Moreover, Oleksandr Zinchenko has also had injury problems. Therefore, it seems Arteta is planning to sign a new fullback to bolster the defence.

Now, Caught Offside claim that Arteta appreciates Cambiaso and Juventus are ready to let him leave for a fee of around £46m. However, purchasing him won’t be easy as Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are also keen on hiring him.

Also, Manchester City are in this race and are the favourite to get the deal done. So, Arsenal will have to act quickly to beat Pep Guardiola’s side and others in this race.

The defender still has a contract until 2029 with the Bianconeri so they are in a strong position to stay firm on their valuation if they are forced to cash-in on him in January or next summer.

Cambiaso is comfortable with both feet and can play in either fullback position. He is technically sound, can play out from the back, is efficient in playing threading passes between the lines and is also efficient in defensive contributions.

The 24-year-old has been a key player for Italy as well as for Juventus. Therefore, he would be an excellent acquisition for the North London club if they secure his service.
