Arsenal in talks to sign RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko
Arsenal are reportedly in discussions to bring RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko to the Emirates Stadium this month, according to transfer expert Sam C on Twitter.
The Gunners are keen to bolster their attacking options as they continue their pursuit of success this season. The North London side recently secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over their rivals Tottenham Hotspur. However, the match highlighted their struggles in attack, with several big chances missed.
Injuries have further compounded Arsenal’s woes. Star winger Bukayo Saka has been ruled out for an extended period, while striker Gabriel Jesus suffered an ACL tear, sidelining him for the remainder of the season. As a result, the Gunners are actively pursuing reinforcements in the attacking department.
Benjamin Sesko to Arsenal
Benjamin Sesko, 21, is one of the most highly-rated center-forwards in world football and has long been admired by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. The Spanish tactician is said to be a big fan of the young striker, whose potential has caught the attention of several top clubs.
Reports suggest that Arsenal are in talks with Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig over a potential deal for Sesko. The Gunners are pushing for a loan move with an option to buy, while Leipzig reportedly prefers an outright purchase.
Valued at £42 million (transfermarkt), Arsenal have reportedly held multiple discussions with Sesko’s representatives. The club is eager to secure the striker’s services, viewing him as a key addition to their attack and also an efficient striker capable of spearheading their attack.
In addition to Sesko, Arsenal have also been linked with Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic, Nico Williams and Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo as they aim to sign a top class attacker to help close the gap on the Premier League leaders.
Arsenal face Aston Villa at the Emirates on Saturday in a crucial clash, aiming to complete the double over Villa and maintain their Premier League title push. The Gunners seek to extend their 11 games unbeaten run in the Premier League and secure vital points to pressure leaders Liverpool, who face Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The January transfer window could prove crucial for the Gunners as they look to address their attacking issues and strengthen their title challenge.
