Arsenal’s predicted line-up against Girona
Arsenal will travel to the Estadio Montilivi to face off against Spanish side Girona in the final league game of the Champions League tonight.
The Gunners are currently third in the table with 16 points from seven games. They have almost secured their place in the round of 16 automatically and just need to avoid defeat in this fixture to achieve that completely.
Arsenal will be coming into this game off the back of an excellent victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League. So, they will be looking to continue the momentum going.
On the other hand, Girona are 31st in the table and their chance of reaching the knockout stage is over. Therefore, they will be looking to perform at their best tonight to end the Champions League campaign on a high note.
Team news
Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka aren’t available for selection due to their injury problems, while Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu are also unlikely to be ready to feature tonight.
Myles Lewis-Skelly picked up a red card against Wolves last time out but his three-match ban is rescinded so he is available for selection straightaway in the domestic matches. Nevertheless, he was already eligible to play in this European game.
Predicted line-up
Mikel Arteta could look to rotate his squad for this game ahead of next weekend’s Premier League fixture against Manchester City. Nevertheless, David Raya is likely to continue between the sticks.
Jurrien Timber and Jakub Kiwior could be the two centre-backs for Arsenal tonight, therefore, Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba might get a breather.
Thomas Partey could commence in the right-back, while Oleksandr Zinchenko may be on the opposite side. So, Lewis-Skelly and Riccardo Calafiori are expected to be among the substitutes.
Jorginho should be in the holding midfield position, while Declan Rice and Mikel Merino would complete the midfield trio. Therefore, Martin Odegaard may feature as a substitute if needed.
Raheem Sterling is likely to be in the right flank, while Gabriel Martinelli might start in the left-wing role. Leandro Trossard should be in the centre-forward position to give Kai Havertz a midweek break. Therefore, Ethan Nwaneri is expected to feature off the bench.
Expected Arsenal line-up vs Girona
Raya; Partey, Timber, Kiwior, Zinchenko; Rice, Jorginho, Merino; Martinelli, Trossard, Sterling
