Arsenal register interest in signing Como star Nico Paz
Arsenal have reportedly registered their interest in signing Como star Nico Paz, as per Italian outlet Internews24.
After ranking through Real Madrid’s La Fabrica academy, the 20-year-old made his senior debut for Los Blancos last campaign. However, he never managed to secure his place in their star-studded starting Xl.
So, the Argentinian decided to leave the club to play regularly and develop his career. Italian side Como decided to secure his service last summer and he has enjoyed a promising debut campaign in Serie A thus far this season, making eight goal contributions in 16 starts.
Internews24 state that several European clubs have already been impressed by Paz’s performances this season and Arsenal have now expressed their interest in signing him.
The Gunners sent scouts to watch the youngster in action against Atalanta last weekend. He displayed an excellent performance in this game and scored a goal, although his side ended up losing the match 2-1.

However, the report say Inter Milan are also in this race and they have an advantage in this race due to their vice-president Javier Zanetti. He has a very good relationship with the player’s father having played together at the international level for Argentina. He was even spotted having dinner with senior Paz recently.
On the other hand, Real Madrid have a 50% sell-on clause and have a buy-back clause for around £12m. They could opt to trigger it having been impressed by his displays.
However, Como are keen on keeping hold of their star man and they have an option to remove the buyback clause by paying a £15m fee immediately. Therefore, it won’t be easy for the North London club to lure the South American to the Emirates Stadium in January or next summer.
Paz is a versatile player as he can play in the attacking midfield position and the box-to-box role. Moreover, he can provide cover out wide if needed. He is a technically gifted left-footed player and possesses the potential to reach the top. Therefore, he would be a great coup for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future if they purchase him.
