Arsenal eye move to sign Jobe Bellingham & Chris Rigg
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Sunderland duo Jobe Bellingham and Chris Rigg, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.
After ranking through the Black Cats’ youth system, Rigg made his senior debut in 2023 before establishing himself as a key player for his boyhood club in recent times.
On the other hand, having moved to the Stadium of Light from Birmingham City ahead of last season, Bellingham, the younger brother of Jude Bellingham, has been an integral part of Regis Le Bris’s starting eleven.
The duo have been guiding their team to mount a top-two finish in the Championship this season to secure their Premier League status. Sunderland are currently fourth in the table with 58 points from 30 games, sitting only three points behind the second-placed Burnley with a game in hand.
Therefore, it seems after being impressed by the 17-year-old and the 19-year-old’s recent performances, Arsenal have registered their interest in securing their signature.
Bellingham & Rigg to Arsenal
Fichajes state that Arsenal have sent scouts to watch the duo closely and are now keen on purchasing them ahead of next campaign. Sunderland want to keep hold of their star players but it would be difficult for them to do that if a club like the North London club’s stature eventually formalise their interest in getting the deal done.
However, the report says that Manchester United are also interested in purchasing him after following him closely. Therefore, it won’t be straightforward for the North London club to seal the deal.
Bellingham is valued at around £15m by Transfermarkt and has a contract until 2028 with Le Bris’s side. On the other hand, Rigg is valued at around £10m by Transfermarkt and has a contract until 2027.
Bellingham is a versatile player as he can play anywhere across the middle of the park, while Rigg likes to play in the box-to-box role but can also play in the No.10 position.
Arsenal will have to sign new faces in the engine room if Jorginho and Thomas Partey eventually leave the club upon the expiration of their existing contract at the end of this season. Jorginho has been heavily linked with a move away from the club with Flamengo reportedly willing to secure his service.
