Arsenal Secure Scottish Wonderkid in Six-Figure Deal
Arsenal have reportedly reached an agreement to sign highly rated 15-year-old Scottish defender Callan Hamill from St Johnstone.
Hamill is regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in Scottish football, having attracted interest from Rangers and Celtic.
However, according to The Athletic , Arsenal have won the race for his signature, securing a deal ahead of their rivals.
The young defender has already trained with Arsenal’s youth teams on multiple occasions over the past year, and the club has now finalized a move to bring him to north London on a permanent basis.
Arsenal and St Johnstone Agree Six-Figure Deal
As per the report, Arsenal and St Johnstone have agreed on a six-figure transfer fee for Hamill, which also includes potential add-ons.
However, due to FIFA regulations, the teenager is not eligible to move to England until he turns 16 on March 1. As a result, it has been decided that he will officially join Arsenal on July 1.
Hamill, who can play as both a right-back and a centre-back, is already a Scotland U17 international. His versatility and defensive ability have made him one of the most promising young defenders in his age group.
In December, he was part of the Arsenal U17 squad that won the prestigious Flamengo Adidas Cup in Brazil, further cementing his reputation as a top prospect.
Scholarship Deal Before Turning Professional
Upon joining Arsenal, Hamill will initially sign a scholarship contract. He will then transition to a professional deal when he turns 17 in March 2026.
Arsenal have lost several exciting talents in recent times, including Chido Obi-Martins, Ayden Heaven, and Amario Cozier-Duberry.
However, the club’s academy remains renowned for developing and recruiting top prospects, and Callan Hamill’s potential suggests he could be another standout addition.
The move marks another step in Arsenal’s continued efforts to recruit top young talents from across Europe, further strengthening their youth setup.
With Hamill’s arrival, the Gunners will hope to nurture his development into a future first-team player, following in the footsteps of other academy graduates who have made their mark at the Emirates Stadium.
