Breno Bidon

Arsenal have held talks over a deal to sign Corinthians midfielder Breno Bidon but face competition from Tottenham, according to reports from Brazilian outlet Bolavip .

The 20-year-old is a versatile central midfielder who can operate in various roles, including defensive midfield, central midfield, and attacking midfield.

Having joined Corinthians’ academy in 2019, Bidon progressed through the ranks before making his senior debut in March 2023.

Arsenal and Spurs in Transfer Battle for Bidon

The report highlights that Arsenal have already initiated contact with Corinthians regarding a potential move for the Brazil U20 international earlier this year.

The Gunners, under interim sporting director Jason Ayto, are expected to present an official offer for the highly-rated youngster in the summer transfer window.

However, Arsenal face strong competition from their North London rivals. Tottenham, under manager Ange Postecoglou, are also working on a proposal to lure Bidon to the Premier League.

Both clubs are keen on securing his services, with discussions around a possible transfer fee of approximately £12.4m.

While the final bids from Arsenal and Tottenham are yet to be determined, the report suggests that the race for Bidon is intensifying as he prepares for a potential move to England.

Arsenal could attract Breno Bidon to the Emirates with the prospect of Champions League football, as the Gunners are on course to secure a guaranteed spot in next season’s competition.

Tottenham, on the other hand, will need to take a more challenging route by winning the Europa League, as Ange Postecoglou’s side currently sits 12th in the Premier League.

Arsenal slips up in Premier League title race

Meanwhile, Arsenal missed an opportunity to gain ground in the Premier League title race following a disappointing home defeat to West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium.

This result further dented their championship aspirations, particularly after Liverpool’s draw with Aston Villa earlier in the week.

In contrast, Tottenham boosted their position with a commanding 4-1 victory away at Ipswich Town, strengthening their momentum in the season’s run-in.

With both clubs actively competing on the pitch and in the transfer market, the pursuit of Bidon adds another chapter to the fierce rivalry between Arsenal and Spurs.

Arsenal now prepare for a crucial away match against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday, February 26, while Tottenham will host Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a significant crash.
