Arsenal Monitor Arda Guler as Real Madrid Uncertainty Grows
Arsenal and several other Premier League clubs are closely watching developments at Real Madrid as uncertainty grows over Arda Guler’s future, according to reports from CaughtOffside .
The Turkish prodigy, who arrived in Madrid with high expectations in the summer of 2023, is struggling for game time and risks becoming an afterthought at the Spanish giants.
Guler’s Struggles at Real Madrid
Guler’s time in the Spanish capital has been far from ideal. Upon his arrival, a long-term injury kept him sidelined for an extended period, delaying his integration into the squad.
Despite recovering, he has yet to earn the trust of manager Carlo Ancelotti, who appears unconvinced about his abilities.
Ancelotti has been forced to rely on younger players more than usual this season due to injuries and a packed fixture schedule. However, Guler has not been among those given opportunities to step up.
The 19-year-old was handed a rare start in the Copa del Rey at the start of February, but that match remains his last appearance for the club.
Since then, he has been left as an unused substitute in each of Madrid’s last five matches.
The Turkish star needs consistent game time to develop his potential, and with limited opportunities in Madrid, his future is now a subject of speculation.
According to CaughtOffside, Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Guler’s situation ahead of the summer window, however, the Gunners face stiff competition from rival Premier League clubs.
Premier League Interest in Guler
Liverpool were among the teams that reportedly scouted Guler during last year’s European Championship.
Meanwhile, Newcastle were previously linked with a potential bid, although no formal offer was made.
Liverpool, currently on course to win their second Premier League title in thirty years, are looking to strengthen their midfield and attack.
A move for Guler could help address those areas as they prepare for the next phase of their squad building.
Valued at £37million (transfermarkt) the Turkish international could follow in the footsteps of Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard, who also struggled for opportunities at Real Madrid before flourishing at the Emirates.
However, Arsenal will likely face competition from other top European clubs if they hope to secure his signature and continue their squad rebuild.
