Arsenal ‘set to secure’ £12m deal to sign Sverre Nypan

By on February 28, 2025

Arsenal are reportedly ‘closing in on’ a deal to sign Rosenborg youngster Sverre Nypan, as per Football Transfers.

After ranking through the Norwegian club’s youth system, the youngster made his senior debut for his boyhood club back in 2022 as a 15-year-old boy before establishing himself as a key player in recent campaigns.

Nypan has been attracting the attention of several big Premier League clubs having displayed promising performances in the Norwegian top flight last term, scoring eight goals and registering seven assists in 25 starts in Eliteserien.

Manchester United and Manchester City were linked with a move for him in the winter window and Arsenal were also looking to hire him. But, a deal eventually didn’t come to fruition.

Now, Football Transfers report that Arsenal are still keen on purchasing him and are close to sealing the deal having already agreed on a five-year contract with Nypan.

Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are also interested in him, while Spurs and the Villans already presented a proposal to him. But, he has been more convinced by Arsenal’s project after speaking with Mikel Arteta.

Moreover, Martin Odegaard, the compatriot of the youngster, has been a big influence on the player’s decision to move to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal are ready to spend a fee of around £12m to get the deal done and if the move eventually happens for this much money then it would be a record sale for Rosenborg.

The report claim everything is almost done and Arsenal are ‘set to secure’ the service of the highly talented Norwegian star soon.

Nypan is a right-footed central midfielder and is also comfortable in the attacking midfield position. Arsenal already have enough firepower in their engine room but they always look for opportunities in the market to sign young talents. The 18-year-old would be a great coup for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future if they purchase him.

Meanwhile, following a disappointing draw against Nottingham Forest, Arsenal will have a weekend break as they have already been knocked out of the FA Cup. So, their next game will be against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League round of 16 next week.
