Arsenal keen on signing Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman
Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman, as per German outlet Sport Bild.
Having ranked through Paris Saint-Germain’s youth system, the Frenchman joined Juventus. But, he didn’t stay with the Italian giant for long; after just one year, he moved to the Allianz Arena.
Coman initially signed for the Bavarian club on a loan deal before joining permanently back in 2017. He enjoyed great success with Bayern over the years, winning every possible major tournament. He even guided his team to lift the Champions League trophy in the 2019/20 season by scoring the winner against his former club PSG in the final.
Now, Sport Bild report that although the forward has a contract until 2027, Bayern Munich are ready to sell him to generate funds and are open to accepting an offer north of £29m. They were demanding around £58m for him last summer so they are prepared to give a significant discount.
Arsenal want a new wide forward this summer and are a ‘hot suitor’ to secure his service. However, Saudi Arabian clubs could also come into the fray and they have the financial muscle to beat the Gunners in this race.
Coman to Arsenal
Alongside playing a key role for Bayern Munich, Coman has also been a member of France squad. He helped his country reach the final of the World Cup 2022 and reached the semi-final of the European Championship last summer.
The 28-year-old likes to play on the left flank but is also comfortable on the opposite side. Arsenal currently have Leandro Trossard and Martin Odegaard for the left flank but they could do with upgrading this position.
Coman is an experienced player and is a serial winner. Therefore, he would be a useful acquisition for the Gunners if they purchase him. However, he has struggled with fitness problems over the years and Mikel Arteta’s side need to be careful about that before making any potential swoop for him.
It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to lure him to the Emirates Stadium in the upcoming transfer window to strengthen the attacking department.
