Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Inter Milan star Denzel Dumfries, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.

After joining the Nerazzurri from PSV Eindhoven back in 2021, the 28-year-old has enjoyed a successful spell at San Siro Stadium over the last few years, winning a Scudetto title, two Coppa Italia trophies and three Supercoppa Italiana.

Now, he has been helping his side mount a Serie A title charge this term and the Nerazzurri are still active in the Coppa Italia and the Champions League. The Dutchman has made eight goal contributions and kept 10 clean sheets in 24 league appearances thus far this season.

So, perhaps, the North London club have registered their interest in signing him having been impressed by his displays for Simone Inzaghi’s side.

Fichajes claim that Arsenal are prioritising strengthening the right-back position by signing a new top-level option and have already stepped up their efforts to sign Dumfries.

Dumfries to Arsenal

The 28-year-old recently extended his deal with the Nerazzurri until 2028 but they are prepared to sell him this summer if they receive an offer of around £42m from his potential suitors such as the Gunners.

However, Manchester United and Chelsea are also interested in signing him so Mikel Arteta’s side will have to overcome stiff competition to lure him to the Emirates Stadium.

The Dutchman, standing at 6ft 2in tall, is an attack-minded fullback and has been playing as a right-wing-back under Inzaghi. He is quick, strong and good in the air so he possesses the necessary attributes to flourish in the Premier League.

However, the North London club already have Jurrien Timber and Ben White for the right-back position. Moreover, Takehiro Tomiyasu is still at the club but has been struggling with fitness problems in recent years.

Therefore, Arsenal are already well-resourced in their right side of the defence and don’t need to spend big to add more depth in this area this summer.

Instead, they would be better off saving the money to sign a new prolific striker. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen whether the North London club will eventually make a concrete approach to sign Dumfries.
