Arsenal ‘remain interested’ in signing Dusan Vlahovic
Arsenal reportedly ‘remain interested’ in signing Serbian forward Dusan Vlahovic, as per transfer journalist Graeme Bailey.
The 25-year-old burst onto the scene having displayed impressive performances for Fiorentina a few years ago. So, the Gunners expressed their interest in hiring him at that time but the player eventually opted to join Juventus for a big fee by rejecting a move to the Emirates Stadium.
However, the Serbian’s development has been stalled since moving to the Allianz Stadium. Now, he has found himself out of favour under Thiago Motta following Randal Kolo Muani’s acquisition on a loan deal in the winter window.
With the player’s contract set to expire at the end of next season, speculation surrounding his future has started emerging in recent weeks.
Reporting on TBR Football, Bailey says that talks regarding a contract extension between Vlahovic and Juventus have broken down as the Bianconeri want him to take a pay cut and he isn’t prepared to accept it.
Vlahovic to Arsenal
Therefore, Motta’s side are ready to cash-in on him for a fee of just around £25m this summer. Although Arsenal couldn’t purchase him a few years ago, they ‘remain interested’ in signing him and have been following his situation closely with the Italian giants before making a potential swoop.
However, purchasing the Serbia international won’t be straightforward for the North London club as Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are also keen on hiring him.
Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are the two strikers Arsenal currently have but it has widely been reported that the Gunners need to upgrade this position to finally win the Premier League title.
Arsenal have been linked with a host of options but all of them will be expansive and Vlahovic is seemingly set to be available for a bargain deal this summer.
Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal if they purchase him. However, considering his recent struggles at Juventus, Vlahovic might not be the ideal option for Mikel Arteta’s side to help them achieve their lofty ambitions.
It is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal make a concrete approach to finally lure the forward to the Emirates Stadium in the upcoming transfer window.
