Arsenal showing ‘concrete interest’ in signing Leroy Sane
Arsenal are reportedly showing a ‘concrete interest’ in signing Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane, as per German football expert Christian Falk.
Having enjoyed great success with Manchester City, the German opted to return to his homeland and the Bavarian club decided to hire him back in 2020.
Upon moving to the Allianz Arena, the 29-year-old has enjoyed great success over the years, winning several Bundesliga titles and numerous major cup competitions.
However, speculation surrounding his future has started emerging in recent months as despite entering the final few months of his current contract, he hasn’t extended it yet.
Now, on Caught Offside, Falk reports that talks regarding an extension between Sane and Bayern Munich have stalled so he is looking set to leave as a free agent this summer.
Sane to Arsenal
Arsenal have started showing a ‘concrete interest’ in him as Mikel Arteta is ‘keen’ on hiring him having already worked together at Man City.
The forward currently earns around £17m-a-year in salary at Bayern Munich and would even be open to taking a pay cut.
Sane is comfortable playing on either flank and bolstering the wide areas in the upcoming transfer window would be the right decision for Arsenal to challenge on all fronts next campaign.
Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli are the two options Arsenal currently have for the left flank, while Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri are for the opposite side.
Raheem Sterling can provide cover on either side but has joined on a loan deal from Chelsea and is likely to return to the Blues at the end of this season as he hasn’t been able to showcase his best at the Emirates.
On the other hand, Trossard and Martinelli have been average this term, while Saka has been out injured over the last few weeks.
Sane is a Premier League proven player and would be a shrewd bargain acquisition for Arsenal if they purchase him. Signing him will even allow Arsenal to invest more to hire a prolific striker.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to lure him to the Emirates Stadium to bolster the frontline.
