After Liverpool crashed out of the UEFA Champions League in a year that seemed to go the Reds’ way, the focus is now on Arsenal to go the full distance.

Getting Champions League Final tickets is always challenging, and Arsenal. They’ve come close to winning the whole thing but could not go the full distance.

In 2006, with a star-studded side managed by Arsene Wenger, Arsenal made the final, but FC Barcelona were too powerful for them that year.

With Liverpool out, fans are all looking at how far Arsenal could go this season and the probability of them winning the whole thing.

Arsenal’s chances of the final

Arsenal has more than one foot in the Champions League quarter-finals after thrashing PSV Eindhoven 7-1 in the first leg of their last-16 tie.

They will not have to face Liverpool in the knockout stages after Paris Saint-Germain eliminated the Premier League leaders.

Mikel Arteta’s side became the first away team to score seven goals in a Champions League knockout tie and know they are likely to head to Madrid next with their route to the final set.

While their tie against PSV is not over yet, many Arsenal fans will be keeping an eye on events in the Spanish capital as Atletico Madrid hosts holders Real Madrid.

Arsenal were knocked out at the quarter-final stage last year, losing to Bayern Munich 3-2 on aggregate. Let’s see how Arsenal could make the final in Munich on 31 May.

Who could Arsenal face in the quarter-finals?

Arsenal now know that if they beat PSV in the last-16, they will face either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals. The Gunners would host the first leg.

Should the Gunners make it to the semi-finals, they will face either PSG or Club Brugge/Aston Villa. Arsenal would also host the first leg.

The final is on 31 May at the Allianz Arena in Munich. Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan are all on the other side of the draw.

Lamine Yamal Says Barca Favourites to Win the UCL

Lamine Yamal has said Barcelona are the new favourites to win the Champions League after Paris Saint-Germain knocked Liverpool out in the round of 16.

Barça finished second behind Liverpool in the revamped league phase of the competition and then beat Benfica to set up a quarterfinal clash with Borussia Dortmund.

A potential semi final with Bayern Munich or Inter Milan would then follow, with Clásico rivals Real Madrid, Arsenal, PSG, or Aston Villa waiting in a hypothetical final.

“We shouldn’t fear anyone,” Barça winger Yamal told Diario Sport about a possible showdown with 15-time winners Madrid.

“I said Liverpool were the favourites because they finished first in the league phase and then came us. I don’t fear any team. We are the side that damages Madrid the most, and vice versa.

“If you think you’re not favourites, you’re already starting to lose. Don’t think teams can beat you. Think that you’re the best team, play the best football and have the best chance of winning.”

Barça’s belief has been fuelled by an 18-game unbeaten streak in 2025, including improbable late comebacks against Benfica and Atlético Madrid.

Despite his age, Lamine Yamal has been one of Barcelona’s star players as they chase an unlikely treble.

Hansi Flick’s side came from 4-2 down to beat Benfica 5-4 in January and then scored four times in the final 20 minutes to recover from a two-goal deficit to beat Atlético 4-2 in La Liga on Sunday.

“The feeling I have is that I am part of a winning team,” Yamal added. “Last year against Atlético, a game like Sunday, we don’t turn that around.

“The same goes for that match against Benfica. We feel we are winners, and we want more and more.”

That win against Atlético took Barça back to the top of La Liga, where they are level on points with Madrid with a game in hand. They are also still in the Copa del Rey, where their semifinal against Atlético is delicately poised at 4-4 after the first leg.

Forward Ferran Torres scored twice off the bench against Atlético on the weekend and said the players believed they could repeat the Treble the club won in 2009 and 2015.

Based on what we see, Barcelona’s brand of football is undoubtedly one of the best we’ve seen so far. The mix of experience and rising stars makes it work well for the club.

If Barcelona continues to deliver, get through their ties, and get their Champions League final tickets, they may meet Real Madrid in the finals.

That is if Madrid also does the same on their side of the draw.

Man City Fear Champions League Qualification Miss

Nico Gonzalez revealed Manchester City’s players have held meetings about securing a Champions League place.

Since qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in 2011, City have never been out of European football’s elite club competition.

But in this unusually turbulent season for the soon-to-be-deposed champions, the prospect of a season without the Champions League is a real threat to the 2023 winners of the tournament.

This draw meant that City failed to climb to fourth place, while fifth place should be enough to secure a Champions League place, given the Premier League’s UEFA coefficient ranking, even if that is not certain.

Fourth-placed Chelsea, Newcastle, Brighton, Aston Villa and Bournemouth are within touching distance of City, with midfielder Gonzalez admitting Pep Guardiola’s players are fully aware of the pressure they are under.

Another January signing, attacker Omar Marmoush, who scored City’s second goal, echoed team-mate Gonzalez about the importance of securing a Champions League spot. “Of course, it’s very important for us to be in the Champions League, but we will just keep working,” said Marmoush.

Champions League final tickets will be out soon.
