Arsenal eye Darwin Nunez as potential summer signing

By on March 16, 2025

Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a move for Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez in the summer transfer window.

According to Fichajes, the Uruguayan has emerged as a striker target for Mikel Arteta as he looks to bring in more firepower this summer.

The Gunners are expected to strengthen their attacking options ahead of next season after their lack of striking options hampered their title push this season.

Reports suggest that Arteta is keen on bringing in a forward who can add power and versatility to the squad.

Nunez, who has struggled to hold down a starting spot at Liverpool, could fit the bill.

Nunez falls out of favour at Liverpool

Darwin Nunez has faced challenges at Liverpool under new manager Arne Slot.

The Uruguayan has not featured regularly in the starting lineup this season, raising doubts about his future at Anfield.

Despite his struggles, Nunez has shown glimpses of quality when given a run of games.

Notably, he played a key role in Liverpool’s dramatic win over PSG, followed by a strong performance against Sunderland.

However, he failed to impress in the second leg against PSG, frustrating both fans and the manager.

Liverpool are reportedly growing tired of the striker, and there are strong indications that he could be sold in the summer.

The Reds may be open to offers, although they are unlikely to recover the hefty fee they paid Benfica a few years ago.

Arsenal’s search for a striker continues

Mikel Arteta is determined to bolster his forward line, and Nunez’s physicality and attacking ability appeal to the Arsenal boss.

However, he may not be viewed as a guaranteed starter. Instead, Arteta could see him as an option to improve squad depth.

The Gunners have been linked with several strikers as they look to add more firepower to their squad.

Benjamin Sesko is another name on their radar, offering a similar physical profile to Nunez.

Negotiating a deal with Liverpool could prove challenging. While the two clubs share a decent working relationship, it is not particularly strong.

The key factor will be Liverpool’s asking price, as Arsenal will only move if the deal makes financial sense, for Nunez who is valued at £55m (transfermarkt).

Nunez has scored 40 goals and provided 24 assists in 135 games for Liverpool. His record shows he can be a threat in front of goal when given consistent opportunities.

Arsenal will continue to assess their options ahead of the summer window, but Nunez’s availability and potential could make him an attractive option.
