Arsenal submit formal proposal to sign Bruno Guimaraes
Arsenal have reportedly submitted a formal proposal to sign Newcastle United ace Bruno Guimaraes, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.
After moving to St James’ Park from Olympique Lyonnais back in 2022, the Brazilian has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League in recent times.
The 27-year-old helped the Magpies qualify for the Champions League a couple of seasons ago and now, he has guided them to win the Carabao Cup by beating Liverpool in the final last weekend. This is the Tyneside club’s first major trophy in almost seven decades.
Now, Fichajes claim that following Guimaraes’s recent impressive performances, he has attracted the attention of the upper echelon of Premier League clubs.
Arsenal have identified him as the ‘top target’ to reinforce the engine room as they are looking to build a squad that can challenge on all fronts next campaign.
Arsenal have already submitted a formal £59m proposal to seal the deal but Newcastle don’t want to let him leave with his existing deal set to run until 2028.
Guimaraes to Arsenal
However, the possibility of playing for a big club like Arsenal could tempt the South American to leave Newcastle but in that case, the Gunners will have to increase their offer to seal the deal.
Mikel Arteta has helped Arsenal to become a Premier League title contender but the Emirates club have been struggling to take the next step and finally win the title.
After narrowly missing out on winning the league in the last two seasons, Arsenal are set to lose the Premier League title to Liverpool this campaign.
Guimaraes is a highly talented player and has the tendency to chip in with some important goals. Therefore, the South American would definitely reinforce the Gunners’ engine room if they purchase him.
The North London club are planning to bolster the midfield this summer as Thomas Partey and Jorginho have entered the final few months of their respective contracts and are looking set to leave at the end of this season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have entered the international break after beating Chelsea in the Premier League last weekend. They will resume their campaign when they face off against city rival Fulham in the league next month.
