Arsenal are reportedly in ‘concrete talks’ over a deal to sign LOSC Lille star Jonathan David, as per French outlet Le10Sport.

The forward has enjoyed an excellent time at Stade Pierre Mauroy over the last few years, winning a league title. Moreover, he has had a productive campaign this term, scoring 23 goals and registering 10 assists in all competitions.

He even helped his side beat both Madrid clubs in the Champions League by putting his name on the scoresheet this season. However, speculation surrounding his future has continued to emerge in recent months as his existing deal with Les Dogues is set to expire at the end of this season.

Now, Le10Sport state that the Canadian will not extend his contract with Lille and will become a free agent. The player’s agent has started exploring options for his client and have held ‘concrete talks’ with Arsenal over a potential move.

However, the Gunners aren’t alone in this race as Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are also plotting a swoop for him and have held talks with the player’s representatives.

Additionally, Borussia Dortmund are also interested in him but the player’s preference is to move to the Premier League so the English clubs are currently the frontrunners in this race.

Arsenal have Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus as the two centre-forward options but it has widely been reported that Mikel Arteta needs a more proven striker to finally win the Premier League title.

The North London club are seemingly looking to hire a new No.9 this summer as they have been linked with a host of names ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

David is a talented player and has showcased his qualities in the French top flight in recent years. Moreover, he is set to enter the prime stage of his career, therefore, this is the right time for him to take the next step in his career.

However, he hasn’t showcased his qualities at the highest level consistently enough to prove that he would be the right option for Arsenal to bolster the attack. Nevertheless, signing a player of his qualities for free would be an excellent business if Arsenal manage to do that.
