Arsenal interested in signing Atalanta star Ademola Lookman

By on March 24, 2025

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Atalanta star Ademola Lookman, as per Caught Offside.

The 27-year-old has been enjoying a stellar time in Serie A since moving to Gewiss Stadium back in 2022. The forward helped La Dea win the Europa League title last term and has been guiding them to mount a title charge this season.

However, following the defeat over Inter Milan last weekend, they have lost ground in the title race. In 32 appearances in all competitions, the Nigerian has netted 18 goals and notched up six assists thus far this season.

Now, Caught Offside claim that Arsenal have registered their interest in Lookman having been impressed by his recent eye-catching displays and could make a concrete approach to secure his service this summer.

Lookman could leave the Italian side at the end of this season and they want around £54m to sanction his departure. The forward’s current deal will run until 2026 but Gian Piero Gaspirini’s side have an option to extend his deal for one more year.

Lookman to Arsenal

The Atalanta star isn’t short of potential suitors so it won’t be straightforward for the North London club to lure him to the Emirates Stadium.

Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have all been keeping a close eye on his situation before making a move. Additionally, Barcelona have already stepped up their efforts by opening talks with the player’s agent to seal the deal.

Lookman is comfortable in the left flank and attacking midfield positions, moreover, he can play as a second striker role. He is technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas and is efficient in finishing off his chances.

Arsenal currently have Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli as the two options to deploy on the left flank, moreover, Gabriel Jesus can provide cover in this position if needed.

However, Jesus has picked up a serious injury and is set to remain sidelined for an extended period, while Martinelli and Trossard have been average this term.

Therefore, signing a new wide attacker would be the right decision and Lookman could be a shrewd acquisition if they purchase him this summer.
