Arsenal and Manchester United eye Greek talents

By on March 27, 2025

Arsenal and Manchester United are among several European clubs tracking Greek prospects Babis Kostoulas and Christos Mouzakitis.

The two teenagers played a key role in Olympiacos’ UEFA Youth League triumph last season and have since broken into the first team.

Kostoulas, 17, has been impressive in attack, scoring six goals in 21 league matches.

Meanwhile, 18-year-old midfielder Mouzakitis has been a regular in the squad, making 30 senior appearances across all competitions.

His progress earned him a call-up to the Greece national team, where he debuted in November.

He debuted Greece’s UEFA Nations League play-off victory over Scotland this month.

Reports from The Sun claim that Kostoulas and Mouzakitis have drawn interest from multiple clubs across Europe.

Arsenal and Manchester United are keeping a close watch, while Aston Villa, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, and Juventus are also monitoring their development.

Arsenal Focus on Young Talent

Both Arsenal and Manchester United have a strong record of developing young players.

United’s recruitment strategy under INEOS prioritizes signing young talents with high potential, and Kostoulas and Mouzakitis fit that mold.

Arsenal, under Mikel Arteta, has also placed emphasis on youth development. If signed, the Greek duo would follow in the footsteps of former Olympiacos players like Sokratis and Dinos Mavropanos, who both had spells in England.

Kostoulas is a versatile forward who can play centrally, out wide, or as an attacking midfielder.

The Greece U21 international turns 18 on May 30, making him eligible for a summer move to the Premier League.

Mouzakitis, a left-footed central midfielder, has contributed two goals and five assists in 30 appearances this season.

His performances earned him two senior caps for Greece, including a start in their recent 3-0 win over Scotland.

Several other clubs are also in the race. Tottenham, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich are reportedly monitoring Kostoulas, while Brighton, Wolves, Villarreal, and Atletico Madrid are keeping tabs on Mouzakitis.

With interest growing, Olympiacos could face a battle to keep hold of their rising stars ahead of the summer transfer window.
