Arsenal entered the international break off the back of a narrow 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the Premier League. Now, they will resume their action against Fulham in the league at the Emirates Stadium tonight.

Mikel Arteta’s side were knocked out of the FA Cup so they got a rare weekend break and should be fresh ahead of this encounter. They are currently second in the league with 58 points from 29 games, sitting 12 points behind league leader Liverpool.

On the other hand, the Cottagers will be coming into this game following a 3-0 defeat against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup last Saturday.

Arsenal haven’t had a good recent record against Fulham as they haven’t been able to win in the last three consecutive games in the Premier League.

Team news

Jurrien Timber couldn’t be involved for the Netherlands in the March international break due to a long-lasting illness but has now recovered from his issue and is available for selection once again. Bukayo Saka has been out injured since picking up a hamstring problem against Crystal Palace and thankfully, he is ready to return once again.

However, Riccardo Calafiori is set to miss out on this encounter having sustained an injury on international duty with Italy. Moreover, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu aren’t available as their season is over owing to their problems.

Predicted line-up

David Raya is expected to continue between the sticks, while William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes would be the centre-back pairing for the hosts.

Timber might be deployed in the right-back position and Myles Lewis-Skelly should be on the opposite side. Therefore, Ben White might feature off the bench.

Thomas Partey is likely to be in the deep-lying playmaker position and Declan Rice should be in the box-to-box role with Martin Odegaard the creative midfielder.

Gabriel Martinelli could start on the left flank, while Ethan Nwaneri may be on the right. Leandro Trossard is expected to lead the line for the North London club. Therefore, Mikel Merino could be among the substitutes.

Although Arteta has said that Saka is ready to start, it would be too risky to do that following a long injury layoff. Therefore, he might be better off featuring as a substitute.

Expected Arsenal line-up vs Fulham

Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Partey, Rice, Odegaard; Martinelli, Trossard, Nwaneri
