Arsenal make contact to sign Frankfurt star Hugo Larsson

By on April 2, 2025

Arsenal have reportedly made contact over a deal to sign Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Larsson, as per Caught Offside.

The Eagles have been in fine form under Dino Toppmoller’s guidance this season, sitting third in the Bundesliga. As a result, a few of their key players have been attracting the attention of several big clubs around Europe ahead of the summer window.

Manchester City already purchased Omar Marmoush in winter and Frankfurt’s other striker, Hugo Ekitike has also been linked with a move away from the club.

Now, Caught Offside claim that Larsson has come on the radar of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Man City and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Gunners have even made contact with the player’s representatives to secure his service. However, along with them, the Reds, the Citizens and the Old Trafford club have also held talks with the player’s agent to persuade him to join.

Larsson to Arsenal

Amid a growing interest in Larsson, Frankfurt expect their star man to leave and have slapped a £50m price tag on his head. The player still has four years left in his current contract so the Bundesliga side are in a strong position to stay firm on their valuation.

The 20-year-old can play in the holding midfield position and the box-to-box role. But, he has been playing in a double midfield pivot role in a 4-4-2 formation at Deutsche Bank Park Stadium.

The Gunners have started exploring the market to sign new midfielders as Thomas Partey and Jorginho are looking likely to leave the club as free agents at the end of this season.

The Italy international hasn’t been able to play regularly this season but the Ghanaian has continued to be a key figure in Arteta’s starting eleven. Therefore, it would be a bit surprising if the Gunners part ways with him this summer.

Larsson is a talented player and could be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future. However, he is still just 20 and may take time to settle down in the Premier League if he were to join. But, Arsenal need a readymade option to win the Premier League title next season.

The Emirates club have also been heavily linked with a move for Martin Zubimendi and if they eventually purchase both the Spaniard and Larsson, that might be the right decision.
