Arsenal ‘preparing’ to submit formal bid to sign Arda Guler

By on April 9, 2025

Arsenal are reportedly ‘preparing’ to submit a formal proposal to sign Real Madrid star Arda Guler, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.

The 20-year-old initially struggled with fitness problems at Los Blancos after joining from Fenerbahce ahead of last season. So, he found it difficult to play regularly, although he won the Champions League and La Liga titles last term.

This campaign, he has been fit but hasn’t been able to break into Carlo Ancelotti’s starting eleven due to immense competition, making only eight starts in the league and the Champions League.

Therefore, speculation surrounding his future has been emerging in recent months. Now, Fichajes state that Guler wants to stay and prove his worth at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu but knows he needs to play regularly to develop his career.

So, he might be open to leaving and although Real Madrid don’t want to let him leave, they would be open to accepting a significant offer. Mikel Arteta believes Guler would fit perfectly into his system so he doesn’t want to pass on an opportunity like this. Arsenal are even ‘preparing’ an offer of around £26m[€30m] to persuade Real Madrid to cash-in.

Guler to Arsenal

Despite Guler’s struggle to secure his place in Los Blancos’s starting eleven, he has continued to play a key role for the Turkiye national team. He is an attacking midfielder by trait but is also comfortable in the right flank and the box-to-box role.

He is technically sound, can play threading passes between the lines, has an eye for scoring goals from distance and also has an eye for long-range passing.

Following Fabio Vieira’s departure last summer, Arsenal have been left with Martin Odegaard as the only creative midfielder. So, amid his injury absence, the Emirates club struggled earlier this season. Therefore, adding depth to this position would be the right decision and Guler would be a great coup should they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club can eventually manage to lure him away from the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in the upcoming transfer window to strengthen the engine room.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Arsenal also want a new striker, goalkeeper, wide forward and a deep-lying playmaker. So, it is likely to be a busy summer for Arteta’s side.
