Arsenal reportedly remain keen on signing Ajax Amsterdam star Jorrel Hato, as per transfer journalist Graeme Bailey.

The Gunners initially expressed their interest in hiring him last summer but opted to bolster the backline by signing Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.

Following the Italian’s arrival, Mikel Arteta currently has Calafiori, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Kieran Tierney and Myles Lewis-Skelly as the options to deploy in the left-back position.

However, the Scotsman is set to leave the club as a free agent at the end of this season, while the Ukrainian hasn’t been able to play regularly in recent times. So, his future seemingly lies away from the Emirates Stadium.

Now, on TBR Football, Bailey says that Arsenal are ready to cash-in on Zinchenko and could hire a new left-sided defender despite purchasing Calafiori last summer.

Hato to Arsenal

The North London club ‘love’ Hato and have done work on him before making a potential swoop this summer. They hold a long-term interest in him as they have been keeping a close eye on his development since he was 16.

Alongside the North London club, Liverpool also like the Dutchman and he could move to the Premier League ahead of next campaign. Ajax may accept a fee of around £40m to sell the defender with his existing deal set to run until 2028.

Hato is a versatile left-footed player as he is comfortable in the centre-back position as well as the left-back role. He is technically sound, can play out from the back and is also efficient in defensive contributions.

With Jakub Kiwior also linked with a move away from the club, Hato might be an ideal option for Arsenal to bolster the defence if they purchase him.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a promising campaign this season, scoring two goals and registering six assists in 25 Eredivisie appearances. Moreover, he has kept 10 clean sheets. Following his eye-catching displays in the Dutch top flight, he has secured his place in Ronald Koeman’s Netherlands squad.

It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium in the upcoming transfer window.
