Updated UEFA Champions League Odds After Arsenal’s Stunning Victory Against Real Madrid

By on April 15, 2025

Not many had given Arsenal a chance when they were paired up with Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. The Spanish giants are the reigning champions, and with a squad containing the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, and Jude Bellingham, Los Blancos were a heavy favorite to progress to the semifinals at The Gunners’ expense.

Not only that, they were also a major contender with online sports betting sites to win the competition outright for a record-extending 16th time. Before the first leg of the quarter-final got underway, the latest online sports betting at Bovada odds gave Real Madrid a 4/1 shot to win the tournament, with the North Londoners out at 7/1. Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain were the two narrow 3/1 joint favorites, but after a famous night at the Emirates, Arsenal has successfully flipped the script.

Bovada may have been excited about Real before, judging by their tweet, but maybe that will change…

The Gunners surprisingly dominated the first leg against Los Blancos, but they were unable to find a way past giant shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois. That all changed in 17 wild second-half minutes in which Arsenal scored three times.

Talismanic midfielder Declan Rice led the way, thumping home not one but two sensational free kicks, becoming the first player in Champions League history to score multiple free kicks in a knockout game. Makeshift striker Mikel Merino then completed the rout with a smart left-footed finish of their own, and Real will now have to pull off one of their customary comebacks if they are to defend their title.

So, following that stunning Arsenal performance, what has happened to the betting odds? Let’s take a look.

The Favorites

Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona remain as they were at the top of the betting charts following impressive first-leg performances. The French side survived an early scare at home to Aston Villa, rallying after falling behind courtesy of Morgan Rogers’ opener to win 3-1. Nuno Mendes’ injury-time goal certainly feels like a big one, and overturning a two-goal deficit could well be too much of an ask for the Villains. The bookies clearly think so, shortening PSG’s odds of a maiden Champions League triumph down to 21/10.

There were no such scares for the Catalonians. They duly thumped last year’s beaten finalists Borussia Dortmund by four goals to nil in their first-leg tie in the Olympic Stadium. They too have seen their odds shorten down to 23/10.

Arsenal Emerge As Contenders

Arsenal were kind of there or thereabouts when it came to the betting charts before they clashed with Real Madrid. Being priced at 7/1, they weren’t considered no-hopers, but the challenge that the mighty Los Blancos posed could have been too much for them to overcome. Well, not anymore.

After their first-leg heroics at the Emirates, prices on The Gunners winning the tournament for the first time have been slashed down to 13/4. Not only that, but the bookies now make Arsenal a whopping 1/8 favorite to get the job done in the Bernabeu and progress to the semifinals. Real, meanwhile, are priced at 5/1 to overturn the three-goal deficit, but when it comes to the record champions in this tournament, nothing is impossible.

Inter Milan Are Well Placed

Perhaps the most difficult quarterfinal to predict was the one between Bayern Munich and Inter Milan. Both teams look set to win the Bundesliga and Serie A respectively, and both were very well matched up. As such, the clash was a genuine 50/50 affair, but it was the Italian side who shone in the first leg. Davide Frattesi’s late goal handed them a 2-1 victory in the cauldron of the Allianz Arena, and now they will head back to the San Siro as the favorites to progress.

The reigning Scudetto holders are priced at 6/1 to win the tournament, and much of that is down to the fact that they are well-positioned to progress to the semifinals. Their Bavarian opponents are now pushed to 14/1 to go all the way, and they will be solely focused on overturning the one-goal deficit in the return fixture in Milan.

Real Madrid Will Have To Produce Another Stunning Comeback

After their first leg humbling at the hands of the Gunners, Real Madrid are now priced as long as 20/1 with some outlets to win the tournament. That’s a far cry from just a few weeks ago when their name was up in lights alongside Barcelona and PSG. They won’t be giving up just yet though.

We have seen some crazy nights at the Bernabeu in recent seasons, with Los Blancos always finding a way to come out on top. They have never overturned a three-goal first-leg deficit before, but Carlo Ancelotti’s men will be itching to set the record straight in the second leg.

The Outsiders

After their resounding defeats in their respective first legs, both Aston Villa and Borussia Dortmund are the rank outsiders. Had the Villains not conceded a third goal in injury time in Paris, their odds would have been somewhat shorter. But alas, they did, and now they’re considered a 70/1 shot.

Die Schwarzgelben somehow has to find a way to outscore Barcelona by four goals in their second-leg tie at Signal Iduna Park. The bookies can’t see it happening, pricing them at 500/1 to lift the trophy. And to be fair, neither can we.
