Arsenal targets Chelsea’s Nkunku ahead of summer window
Arsenal have been linked with a move for Chelsea and France attacker Christopher Nkunku, according to reports from RMC Sport.
Mikel Arteta’s side are preparing for a busy summer transfer window as they aim to strengthen key areas of their squad.
One area the Gunners want to improve is their attack, and they have now reportedly identified Nkunku as a target.
Nkunku joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig two years ago in a deal worth around £51 million, but the move has not been successful.
This season, under new manager Enzo Maresca, Nkunku has been used as a supporting striker and sometimes as the main forward.
The French international has struggled for consistency, managing only three league goals during the campaign.
Reports claim Arsenal showed interest in Nkunku during the January transfer window and are planning to return for him this summer.
Bayern Munich Also Keen on Nkunku
Arsenal will face strong competition for Nkunku, with Bayern Munich also keeping a close watch on the player.
The German giants reportedly made enquiries about Nkunku in the winter and could make a move once the window opens.
Nkunku’s impressive performances during his time at RB Leipzig make him a very attractive option for clubs looking to strengthen their attack.
Arsenal see him as a player who could ease the burden on Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard next season.
Meanwhile, Bayern are searching for a reliable backup for Harry Kane and believe Nkunku could fit that role.
The versatile forward is currently valued at £39 million according to Transfermarkt, making him a tempting option for interested clubs.
At that price, Arsenal could secure an experienced attacker who has shown his quality in Europe.
Adding a player like Nkunku would offer Arteta another valuable option as the Gunners aim to challenge for major honours next season.
The summer transfer window promises to be a crucial period for Arsenal as they look to strengthen their squad for another title push.
