President Confirms Offer Amid Reports Of €40m Bid From Arsenal

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has confirmed that a mystery club has already made a €40m offer for Arsenal target Paulo Dybala but has refused to name the club in question.

Dybala has become one of the hottest properties in European football this season after scoring 12 goals in 23 games in Serie A for Palermo.

Arsenal are one of the clubs who’ve been strongly linked with the 21-year-old in recent months with reports in February suggesting that we had tabled a €40m offer for the young forward.

The likes of Juventus and Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in Dybala and now Palermo president Zamparini has revealed that a mystery club has already submitted a €40m (£28.5m) offer for the player.

The good news for us is he’s played down speculation the bid has come from Juve or United, but he’s refused to confirm exactly which club has tabled the offer.

Zamparini is quoted as saying by the Express:

“Has Dybala already been picked up by Juve? Absolutely not,”

“I already have a €40m offer in my hand, but if someone else gets into the race then we’ll see what happens.

“Were Manchester United behind this offer? I won’t tell you the name of the club, not even if you torture me!”

Dybala is expected to leave the Sicilian club this summer after rejecting their contract extension offer and Zamparini went on to say that the players future can be resolved by the end of this month, but warned that he won’t be sold for anything less than the €40m they’ve already been offered.

“A team should close the signing of Dybala in the next 15 days,”

“He will not go for less than €40million euros.”

So it looks like the race for one of the most highly-rated young talents in the world is hotting up and Arsenal are continually being linked with a move for the player.

I’ve said many times that I’d be surprised if Arsene Wenger spent close to £30m on another forward this summer as our priority should be on strengthening other areas of the squad, but you never know.

The boss is always on the look out for young talent so perhaps he’s ready to take a punt on Dybala. The good thing is he’s still only 21 so has plenty of time to get better and he should only increase in value the more he improves.

My concern is that if we did sign him, he’ll struggle to get regular action which may harm his development. Anyway, there’s a long way to go before we need to start worrying about that, and my gut feeling is Dybala will end up somewhere other than Arsenal this summer.
