Arsenal Ace Demands Showdown Talks With Arsene Wenger

According to reports, Wojciech Szczesny has demanded showdown talks with boss Arsene Wenger after losing his place in the first team.

Szczesny was axed as No.1 after his horror-show during our 2-0 defeat to Southampton on New Years Day and he faced the wrath of Wenger after being caught smoking in the dressing room after the game.

David Ospina has performed well in his absence with Arsenal winning 15 of the 17 games he’s kept goal since replacing Szczesny, so I think it’s fair to say he’s now established himself as our No.1 until at least the end of the season.

Speculation has been rife in the papers that we’re actively looking for another stopper with reports suggesting we’re seriously interested in Chelsea’s Petr Cech – who’s set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

Most people associated with AFC would welcome Cech’s signing but his arrival would almost certainly spell the end for Szczesny.

The Polish international does love the club and it’s thought he’s prepared to stay and fight Ospina for the No.1 shirt, but the signing of Cech would push him down to third choice.

The Sun are reporting that Szczesny is aware of the speculation and is now demanding talks with Arsene to see where he fits in to his plans. If he’s not given assurances, he’ll look for a move ASAP.

This news is hardly surprising and I think most people would expect Szczesny to leave the club should we bring in another experienced keeper this summer.

It would be a real shame, as I’m a big fan of Szczesny and think he has the potential to be world class, but unfortunately his concentration and attitude have let him down and he’s not developed as many would have hoped.

Let’s see what happens in the summer but I won’t be surprised if Szczesny is on the look-out for a new club in a few months time.
